About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and deployment of our fire-support systems and hardware enclosures. You will own mechanical development end-to-end: from sizing high-power actuators, kinematics, and structural linkages to packaging rugged, weather-tight, and shock-resistant electronic enclosures for demanding field environments.
Whether you are early in your career or bringing experience from fast-paced engineering teams, we value practical problem-solving, rapid iteration, and strong mechanical fundamentals.
What you will own:
- Full-lifecycle CAD & design: 3D modeling, 2D drafting, GD&T, material selection (high-strength alloys, engineered plastics), and DFM for fire-support assemblies and custom enclosures.
- Environmental sealing & protection: ruggedized enclosures rated for high ingress protection against dust, sand, and water jet/immersion (IP67/IP68 class), alongside vibration and shock isolation.
- Actuation & kinematics: size, select, and integrate electromechanical actuators, gearboxes, linkage mechanisms, and structural mounts.
- Electromechanical integration: work with the electronics and systems teams to package PCBs, power distribution, thermal management, and cable harnessing into compact, field-serviceable modules.
- Prototyping & testing: build proof-of-concept units, run environmental, leak, and structural testing, analyze failure modes, and iterate fast.
- Fabrication & vendor management: work closely with precision machinists, sheet metal fabricators, and injection molders on DFM, cost, and quality.
Must have
* 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, or hands-on design/build experience on a Formula SAE team (ideally Formula Electric).
* Proven track record of designing, building, and testing real physical hardware — especially active cooling, custom actuation, structural linkages, or sealed electromechanical packaging.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) and structural/thermal FEA.
* Strong understanding of gasketing, sealing design (O-rings, molded seals), and IP rating standards.
* Practical hands-on fabrication skills (machining, 3D printing, shop assembly, harness routing).
* Comfort in a fast-paced environment, with a willingness to test and troubleshoot hardware hands-on.
Nice to have
* B.Tech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering (helpful, not required — a strong build record beats it).
* Experience designing to shock, vibration, or environmental standards for field-deployed equipment.
* Any background in defense, aerospace, or other hardware that has to survive real operating conditions.
Notes
Location: Hyderabad, on-site (hardware iteration and field testing require physical presence).
Given the defense nature of the work, Indian citizenship is required, and candidates should be comfortable with the security, confidentiality, and eventual clearance/vetting expectations that come with government and armed-forces trials.
Compensation is below-market cash + meaningful ESOP (4-year vest, 1-year cliff).
