Day-to-Day responsibilities include:
- What You’ll Do
- Develop and optimize solid propellant chemical compositions based on required propulsion performance.
- Carry out propellant preparation, mixing, casting, curing, and processing as per approved procedures.
- Characterize propellant properties including density, burn behaviour, mechanical properties, and thermal characteristics.
- Perform rocket motor performance calculations, including thrust, chamber pressure, burn time, total impulse, and specific impulse.
- Conduct internal ballistics calculations and evaluate grain geometry and burning characteristics.
- Perform rocket nozzle calculations and sizing, including throat area, expansion ratio, exit area, and expected nozzle performance.
- Support selection and analysis of nozzle materials, insulation, and thermal protection systems.
- Perform preliminary thermal and structural calculations for motor and nozzle components.
- Support design and development of ignition systems and motor interfaces.
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering calculations, test plans, BOMs, and technical reports.
- Support static firing tests, instrumentation, data acquisition, and post-test performance analysis.
- Correlate theoretical calculations with experimental test results and recommend design improvements.
- Investigate propulsion-system failures and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with mechanical, manufacturing, testing, and materials teams for prototype development.
- Maintain proper documentation, traceability, safety procedures, and configuration control for propulsion activities.
- You will be given a real propulsion problem (not textbook questions)
- You may be asked to design a motor, estimate thrust, and justify choices
- We look for practical thinking + build capability, not just equations
