·       The Senior Engineer – Procurement & Sourcing (R&D) is responsible for sourcing specialized components, materials, and technologies required for research and product development activities. The role requires strong technical understanding, ability to work closely with design and engineering teams, and expertise in identifying niche vendors for prototypes, trials, and new product builds. The role supports both prototype development and transition to production

·       Source specialized components, sensors, electronics, mechanical parts, and custom-made items required for R&D projects.

·       Identify vendors capable of low-volume, high-precision, and custom manufacturing.

·       Manage procurement for prototypes, new concepts, trials, and experimental builds.

·       Work closely with R&D engineers to understand technical specifications and functional requirements.

·       Scout, evaluate, and onboard vendors with advanced or emerging technologies relevant to R&D needs.

·       Conduct feasibility checks, technical discussions, and ensure suppliers meet R&D-specific quality requirements.

·       Maintain a database of global suppliers for niche components, development boards, sensors, and rapid prototyping services.

Required Skills & Competencies:

·       Strong technical understanding of engineering components (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics).

·       Experience in sourcing niche, advanced, or custom components for prototype development.

·       Strong vendor research and negotiation skills.

·       Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and datasheets.

·       Good analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.

·       Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory tools (ZOHO/ERP NXT preferred), and MS Excel.
