Intern, Payload Development

We are seeking a passionate and research-oriented Intern to contribute to the design, development, integration, and testing of payload systems for Red Balloon's VISTA (Stratospheric Balloon Platform) and DIVE platforms.

Key Responsibilities

| Payload Design & Integration

• Assist in design of payload enclosures and mounting structures

• Support integration of sensors, cameras, and scientific instruments

• Work on thermal management and power budgeting for payloads

• Contribute to payload interface design with balloon/aerostat systems

| Testing & Validation

• Support environmental testing (thermal, vibration, vacuum)

• Assist in payload calibration and performance validation

• Document test results and prepare payload operation manuals

| Mission Support

• Support payload preparation for flight missions

• Assist in post-flight data retrieval and analysis

• Contribute to payload recovery operations

• Pursuing or completed B.Tech/M.Tech in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electronics, or related field

• Understanding of payload systems and mission requirements

• Experience with CAD tools and mechanical design

• Knowledge of sensors, data acquisition, and instrumentation

• Familiarity with environmental testing standards preferred

• Hands-on approach with attention to detail

• Ability to work under mission-critical timelines
